Shrimp Tacos with Red Cabbage Slaw | A Cheesemonger's Daughter
Simple, ready in minutes, packed with flavor, and colorful to boot. This is a great weekday dinner to whip up or make with friends. Tacos are great sharing meals and gets everyone involved with building their own.

  • 10-12 shrimp
  • 1 bunch cilantro
  • 2 limes
  • 1/4 red cabbage
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 heaping teaspoon mayo
  • tortillas

the how-tos

  1. Marinate the shrimp in a splash of olive oil and a large handful of finely chopped cilantro (including the stalks) for 1/2 an hour in the fridge.
  2. While the shrimp is marinating thinly slice the cabbage and carrots and toss with a handful of roughly chopped cilantro, the mayo, zest of half a lime, and juice of a whole lime. Season to taste.
  3. Heat a skillet or griddle over moderate heat and cook the shrimp 2-3 minutes per side until pink and firm. Warm tortillas and build the tacos with slaw, shrimp your fave hot sauce, sour cream, avo, cilantro, and lime.

    1. Hi Laurie! I added some sriracha hot sauce to the mayo for a bit of a kick and the bonus of that fun pink color. Tabasco or your fave hot sauce would have the same affect!
